Hi, my name is Maddy and I am fundraising to help Namulisa live with the medical condition she has. At only 13 years old, her world is slowly fading into a blur of shadows. Instead of chasing butterflies in the fields near her village, she wakes up every morning to sharp, stabbing pain radiating through her head.
The diagnosis is retinoblastoma — eye cancer. What started as a strange white glow in her pupil, first noticed by her grandmother under the dim light of a kerosene lamp, has become a protruding mass that has stolen her sight and her smile.
Her family, already struggling to put food on the table, is heartbroken. Her grandmother has sold their only two goats to pay for the initial consultations, but the cost of the life-saving chemotherapy and surgery needed to stop the cancer from reaching her brain is a mountain they cannot climb alone.
"I just want to go back to school," Namulisa whispers, her hand instinctively covering her bandaged face. "I don't want the dark to take the rest of me."
